Can I get a Double Burger with Cheese?!

25 Jan

It’s no secret every since Lupe Fiasco came out with Kick Push, he was not afraid to be himself or speak what’s on his mind. This is something his record label has never been happy with. So, what does one of the last remaining true Conscious rappers do? Creates a mixtape speaking his mind regarding anything and everything he feels wrong with the world and the music industry. His latest venture, Friend of the People, is by far his realest work yet! For anyone struggling to understand what we the ‘AWAKE’ are talking about, this is a MUST HAVE cd!!!!

One of the songs that stands out the most to me is ‘Double Burger w/Cheese’. Anyone who is familial with urban movies might recognize the phrase from a pivotal scene from Menace II Society, a movie about a young street hustler who attempts to escape the rigors and temptations of the ghetto in a quest for a better life. Unfortunately, most of the movie is filled with extreme violence as it depicts inner city live.

Anyway, in this song, Lupe effortlessly weaves a lyrical montage of scenes from several of the most predominant Urban Movies, which are all filled with gangs, violence, degrading of women, drugs, and pretty much anything negative that could happen to a person who grew up in the hood. From Menace II Society to Boyz In Da Hood to Dead Presidents to Colors, and plenty more. These movies have been watched by an entire generation so many times  we have become callus to everything in them. It’s become normal to watch black young men killing  each other in real life because we were raised watching them do in on tv. Check out the video.

It’s really sad how we have allowed ourselves to be programmed into becoming everything these movies were suppose to be preaching against. SMH

But, hey, THAT’S MY OPINION!

This is Deep.. How he goes through the scenes we all remember from these movies and how we’ve adapted to these same actions in our community..It actually got worse.. This is “Child’s Play” in comparison to whats going on now..

And the worst is yet to come. The so called Negro has no idea what is coming down the pike for him, he needs to wake up fast, smell some industrial strength coffee and snap out of his slumber.

Are you being serious with this comment? What, for warning my people that danger lies ahead for them, the fact that this danger is coming from the camp white people(which has always been historically the case) and that they need to wake up and be aware of what is going on?

Eugenics was formed by WHITE PEOPLE for the purpose of “keeping the numbers of the so called Negro in check”. All that has changed now is that the elite have decided to rid themselves of the common white folks but the so called Negro has always been and is still the prime target.

Calling out the crimes of the so called white man is not being racist, you might aswell drop that technique of manipulation, it doesn’t work on me, neither does calling me a hate mongering racist, I will still call out the crimes of your people, not just against the so called Negro but also against the whole world.

If you like Lupe Fiasco, I think you might like my blog, Rhymes and Reasons. It is a series of interviews with hip-hop heads who discuss their lives in the context of a few songs that matter to them. The interviews tend to focus on questions of justice like racism, sexism, sexual violence, white privilege, etc. I hope you enjoy it.

    Welcome
